Do: Keep it short and sweet.
The bulk of your CV should be about recent experiences and accomplishments, so there’s no need to include every little detail about your entire work history. In general, two to three pages should suffice.
Don’t: Use generic or vague language.
Be as specific as possible about your skills and experiences. For example, rather than simply saying “managed a team,” say “managed a team of 10 customer service representatives.” Generic language won’t give employers a clear sense of what you can actually do.
Do: Use reverse-chronological order.
Start with your most recent job and work your way back. This format is easy to follow and makes the most sense for employers who are interested in your recent experiences.
Don’t: Forget to proofread!
Nothing will sink your chances of landing an interview faster than a typo-ridden CV. So before you hit “send,” be sure to run spell check and have a friend or family member take a look as well.
